"You haven't lost if you didn't win first place as long as you do your very best. You only lose when you know you could've tried harder."
"Somebody has to stop the clock; it might as well be a Shark."
"If Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff have to practice, then so do you."
Meet Our Coach Coach Stewart has extensive experience working with children. Not only has she been coaching our swim team for over ten years, during the "off" season she occupies her time teaching fourth grade at Fort Washington Forest Elementary School. She has lived in the Fort Washington community for over 30 years and has been involved with swim teams on just about every level; stroke judge, team rep, and as parent of three former swimmers (Sharks). Her primary goal for her students/swimmers is to raise their level of ability within an environment of encouragement. Regardless of the level a swimmer brings to the team, Coach Stewart encourages each swimmer to do his/her best. Her primary mission is to foster an environment which instills good values and sportsmanship while helping the swimmers to realize their potential.
Swim Meets In order to compete well a Shark needs to be rested properly, which means getting enough sleep the night before. Be sure to compensate for the early morning wake-up and drive time, for away meets, by going to bed early the night before. Also, don't forget to make sure that you have enough time to have a nutritious breakfast while being cautious not to "bulk up" on heavy greasy foods right before competing. Lots of juicy fresh fruits and common sense will help you to avoid nausea episodes.
Cheers
